Movie House Truancy

>> Wednesday, October 25, 2006

Step Up is now showing on cinemas! So is The Guardian and Open Season. Woooohoo!

I missed Take the Lead, Prada, Monster House, Dupree (?), Ex-Girlfriend and many others during my uh..leave of absence in the movie house. Haha! I meant during that busy first semester. And now that the hassle's over(temporarily, that is) I am not gonna miss any movie that I intend to watch. Nuuuh uh!

Tomorrow, my thirst for dance movies will be given a quench as me my bestfreind would be watching Step Up. All for free. Got 2 compli tickets to consume, that's why. Hehe! And tha only 2 left. :-( Toinx!

Anwayz...just a few reasons why I'd watch this film ---
One...me a sucker for dance movies.
Two...Channing Tatum.
Three...I wanna see how Tatum is in dance considering this athletic, macho, action-star image that he usually poses.
And four, I usually watch movies for no reason at all. Wehehe!

Can't wait.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Hmmm....I'm thinking of watching Prada right now(on DVD, I mean). It's still is early(for a nocturnal, that is)...and I know I should go compensate on those swamped nights but uh...hmm...I dunno. To watch or not to watch. That's the question right now. Hmm...

*yawn*

Guess I got an answer. G'nyt. I-congrats ko beh kay sayo ko matulog. Hihihi! Nyt, folks!

Quote Time

>> Tuesday, June 13, 2006

Whenever I watch movies, especially when I watch 'em on my PC, I always press [pause] whenever I hit upon lines/quotes that bring me to thinking.

Here are a few of those that I've saved in different text files, so far:

"Men speak conveniently of love when it serves their purpose,
and when it doesn't, it's a burden to them."
-Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio as Lady Marian
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

"There are no perfect men in this world...only perfect intentions."
-Morgan Freeman as Azeem
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

"Life should be a little nuts. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of Thursdays strung together."
-Kevin Costner as Beau Burroughs
Rumor Has It

"Why do we get married? Because we need a witness to our lives...
...in a marriage, you're promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things...all of it. All the time everyday. You're saying...you're life will not go unnoticed, because I will notice it...you're life will not go unwitnessed...because I will witness it."
-Susan Sarandon as Beverly Clark
Shall We Dance

Well, that's it for now. Forgot where I kept the others..hehe :)
More to come later :)

Stone's WTC

>> Thursday, June 08, 2006

Known in Hollywood for creating films based on true stories(JFK, Alexander, Born on the Fourth of July, Any Given Sunday), Oliver Stone directs another real-life flick entitled World Trade Center. Based discernibly on the 9/11 incident in downtown Manhattan, the film tells about two Port authority police officers Seargent John McLouglin(Nicolas Cage) and Officer Will Jimeno(Michael Pana), who were trapped inside the World Trade center when the building collapsed. The story revolves on these two officers' dilemma inside the towers and their wives' awaiting their fate.

This is the second released film in regard to the Sept. 11 terrorism attack. The first one is entitled United 93, which was suppsed to be(but apparently wasn't) in theatres last April 25. The film's being not shown in Philippine cinemas probably had something to do with the film's being too upsetting. Maybe World Trade Center won't be that disconcerting. I could only hope so.

It was said that the two officers, Seargent McLouglin and Officer Jimeno worked with the filmmakers in creating this movie. The reason...to ensure realism.

Another Almighty In Production

>> Wednesday, May 31, 2006

"And that's the way the cookie crumbles..." was Jim Carey's famous line as Bruce Nolan in the 2003 comedy flick Bruce Almighty. This has got to be one of my favorite comedy films ever! Unforgettably hilarious! I could still remember some scenes clearly even though it has been more than a year since I've last watched the full film.

One particular scene that I could never ever get out of my mind was that of Steve Carell's(40-Year Old Virgin, Bewitched, Over the Hedge). The one where Bruce(Carey), in a desperate urge to oust and replace Evan(Carell) in his position as news anchor, uses his power to mislead his culprit. In the scene, Evan, together with his fellow anchor Susan(Catherine Bell), is in the midst of an on-air report and Bruce alters the prompter into gibberish...causing chaos in the newsroom which apparently lead to Evan's termination. It was, for me, the funniest scene in the whole movie. Carell did a spectacular job!

Yes, Carell indeed was spectacular as Evan that Universal Pictures actually decided to turn him into an Almighty as, well. Yes, peepz...a Bruce Almighty 2 is now in production and it's entitled Evan Almighty with, of course, Steve Carell playing the lead.

The synopsis goes below:

"Steve Carell, reprising his role as the polished preening newscaster Evan Baxter of Bruce Almighty, is the next one anointed by God to accomplish a holy mission in thehilarious new comedy Evan Almighty. Blockbuster comedy directo Tom Shadyac(The Nutty Professor, Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty) returns behind the camera for this next episode of divine intervention. This time, however, his cast grows two-by-two. Newly elected to Congress, Evan leaves Buffalo behind and shepherds his family to suburban northern Virginia. Once there, his life gets turned upside-down when God(Morgan Freeman) appears and mysteriously commands him to build an ark. But his befuddled family just can't decide whether Evan is having a mid-life crisis or is truly onto something of Biblical proportions..."

Well, this flick seems promising. Especially with Carell as lead. The movie is said to be released next year.
